16-year-old killed, 15-year-old taken to hospital by plane in car crash

BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – A 16-year-old Springville teen has died after a fatal car crash on Sunday, October 27.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, a one-vehicle crash occurred at 11:30 a.m. Sunday on AL 132, near Altoona, after the 16-year-old’s car left the roadway, struck an embankment, overturned and caught fire. . The teen was pronounced dead at the scene.

ALEA says a 15-year-old, who was a passenger in the car, was ejected from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Authorities say both teens were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

An investigation is currently underway.
