Christianburg-Wismar High School dominates the cross country race

KAYMALLY Lacon was the best individual performer, but it was Christianburg-Wismar Secondary School (C-WSS) that took the lion’s share of the proceeds on Saturday when the Secondary Schools Athletics League hosted their first event, a cross-country race at the scenic Botanical Garden. Gardens.

Tutorial High School’s Lacon proved supreme in the 5km run for Years 10-11 boys as he claimed victory in 19 minutes and 35 seconds at the Botanical Gardens this weekend.

Second place went to Malachi Melville of Christianburg-Wismar Secondary School, while Zackrey Favorite of Bygeval Secondary placed third.

Leroy Henry of Bygeval came fourth.

Alkila Blucher showed her skills in the 4k race for grades 10-11 girls as Christianburg-Wismar Secondary once again placed in the top four.

Behind Blucher, who finished in 17 minutes and 42 seconds, were C-WSS Savannah Hyles, Shalona Mingo and Shanelia Gould.

The Linden crews took the majority of the spoils as their school dominated the race with 25 finishers.

The boys’ 4km run also featured an almost exclusive Linden affair, as Mackenzie and Christianburg-Wismar battled for the top five spots in the Grades 8-9 race.

Mackenzie took first place, compliments of multi-disciplinary athlete Ebo McNeil, who finished in a fast 14 minutes and 46 seconds.

Bryson McBean and Omar Luther of Christianburg-Wismar Secondary School took second and third place with their schoolmate Joseph Charles in fourth and Hajvaunte Adams of Mackenzie High in fifth.

In the boys’ 3km run, C-WSS’s Akeem Blucher sent schoolmate Omarion Peters to the line in 12 minutes, 12 seconds, stopping the clock 12 minutes, 33 seconds ahead of third-placed Kyle Nurse of Mackenzie High.

In the girls’ equivalent 3km race, Golden Grove Secondary’s Amisa Brutus was there for the win.

While Linden duo Keyare Whitfield of Christianburg-Wismar and Tiffuann David of Mackenzie High took the silver and bronze medal positions.

The ladies of Christianburg-Wismar dominated the 2000 meter run and finished on the podium.

Holiyann ​​Jarvis came first in eight minutes and 37 seconds, followed by Amiyah Johnson and Lynicia Barclay.

In the team count, it was Christianburg-Wismar Secondary that dominated the six-race schedule, winning five of the six races, while Golden Grove picked up the other.

However, it was McKenzie High that was the second best school, giving Christianburg-Wismar stiff competition in every race.
