MANILA: The number of reported deaths from severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) now stands at 116, while the number of people affected has risen to more than six million, the latest National Disaster Risk Reduction report shows and Management Council (NDRRMC). ) showed.

In its situational report issued Monday (October 28) at 8 a.m., the agency announced that 6,717,755 individuals, or 1,662,416 families, were affected by the bad weather or flooding caused by Kristine across the country.

Of those affected, 561,687 stayed in evacuation centers, while 418,668 sought shelter elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said it is still validating 106 of the 116 reported deaths, adding that 109 people were injured and 39 were missing.

More cities in a state of disaster

In addition, the NDRRMC placed two more cities or municipalities under a state of disaster, bringing the total to 160 areas.

Of the 160 areas, according to the agency, 79 areas are in the Bicol Region, followed by Calabarzon with 64 areas, Eastern Visayas with 13 areas and one area each in the Ilocos Region, Soccsksargen, Cordillera Administrative Region and the Capital Region.

So far, the government has rolled out €658 million in aid to affected families.
