Days before the trip, Kajaya met the mystery man in Thika, where they reportedly visited a hospital and took an HIV test.

She returned with new clothes, groceries and cash, explaining to her friends that the man she described as rich had given her the items.

Kajaya also said he drove a Range Rover and later gifted her a phone worth KSh 11,500 at a meeting in Juja.

Why did Kajaya travel to Nakuru?

One of her close friends anonymously revealed that the young woman had confided in her about the Nakuru trip.

“I tried to convince her not to go as they barely knew each other, but she was determined,” the friend said.

Kajaya’s friend expressed concern about not having family in Nakuru, but recalled Kajaya dismissing the concerns and insisting on going.

Dressed in a green dress and carrying a pink bag, Kajaya left Thika on October 12 and messaged her friend to confirm her arrival around 5 p.m.

Shortly afterwards, she called again to inform her friends that the man had arrived to pick her up and assured them that she was safe.

“Around 9pm, she called our other friend and asked him not to sleep or turn off his phone as she was planning to return to Nairobi, explaining that she had had an argument with the man,” the friend said.

That night, Kajaya’s friends waited in anticipation of her return, but when she did not contact them again, they assumed she had reconciled with the man.
