Man City: Record-breaking bid ‘could change everything’ for Guardiola, with decision date set

Man City boss Pep Guardiola has one last ‘temptation’ before deciding his future with a record-breaking bid from Saudi Arabia on the table, according to reports.

The Citizens have made a brilliant start to the new season and will be looking to defend their Premier League crown after helping Arsenal to the title on the final day of last season.

Men’s city won their fourth Premier League title in a row last season, with Guardiola already going down as one of the best managers the English top flight has ever seen.

Guardiola’s contract expires this summer and there are rumors he could leave for a new challenge or a sabbatical.

The 115 charges facing Manchester City over alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial fair play rules have not helped clarify Guardiola’s future.

There were some reports last week that Guardiola had made the decision to stay on as manager at the Etihad Stadium, but reports in Spain now indicate that one final ‘temptation’ has taken place.

The Catalan has ‘an offer’ from Saudi Arabia to consider whether the league will ‘make him the highest-paid coach in the world’ if he accepts the move to the Middle East.

It is believed that ‘the Saudi offer promises an amount that would exceed 30 million euros’ in an ‘offer that promises to break records in the sector’.

Guardiola would ‘join a project that would position him as a key figure in the building of Saudi football’ and the offer from the Middle East ‘could change everything’.

And former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson believes history indicates Guardiola will decide his future “in the coming weeks”.

Borson said Football insider: “Obviously it would be huge if he signs. I’m sure they’ll take whatever they can get, whether it’s a year, two years or whatever. I guess we’ll see soon enough.

“I think the fact that it hasn’t been confirmed yet means it’s not ready yet if it becomes a one-year extension. I would still think he hasn’t made up his mind for now.

“We know historically that the decision was previously made in early November when the contract term was running out.

“I expect this will probably happen in some form or another in the coming weeks. It is very important for City if they can keep him for another year.”
