New Delhi (India), October 28 (ANI): Researchers, industry leaders and experts from across the country came together for a stakeholder meeting under the Mission for Advancement in High-impact Areas (MAHA) Electric Vehicle ( EV) Mission.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the event, held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Monday, served as a platform for discussions on joint efforts to advance India’s e-mobility initiatives.

It was aimed at facilitating the submission of proposals in response to the MAHA-EV call, one of the first initiatives launched by the newly operational Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF).

“We launched this mission to support India’s shift towards sustainable mobility in line with national goals. The importance of e-mobility within our automotive sector cannot be overstated. This mission aims to catalyze innovation and collaboration among stakeholders and ensure that India builds robust expertise in EV technology,” said Professor Ajay K Sood, Chief Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, at the meeting held in Vigyan Bhawan was organized to facilitate submission of proposals. in response to the call on MAHA-EV – one of the first calls of the newly operationalized Anusandhan National Research Foundation.

Secretary, Department of Science and Technology and CEO of ANRF, Professor Abhay Karandikar, highlighted the ambitious objectives of the MAHA-EV mission.

“We have initiated significant investments through ANRF, establishing a strong board of directors to guide the mission strategy. The MAHA-EV mission aims to advance advances in EV battery technology, power electronics and charging infrastructure. We have opened the call for proposals in consortia mode to enable interdisciplinary research and development across institutions, research labs and industry,” Professor Karandikar pointed out.

ANRF’s first call on the MAHA-EV mission, which aims to enhance Indian expertise in EV battery technology, strengthen R&D in power electronics, machinery and drivetrains and improve charging infrastructure to make translational research, innovation and technological breakthroughs in this area a national priority and achieve global impact.

The enthusiasm of the participants at the stakeholder meeting underscored India’s commitment to sustainable transportation and to developing indigenous R&D in electric mobility.

The meeting functioned as an interactive platform, in which more than 300 participants from academia, government agencies and industry participated both in person and through online mode.

They were in touch with the senior government officials to clear their doubts as they prepare to submit their proposals for the current call under the MAHA-EV mission.

Dr. Shashi Bhushan Pandey, EV Mission Program Coordinator at ANRF emphasized that fostering such partnerships would lead to substantial progress in the Indian EV landscape.

On the sidelines of this event, Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary, DST, unveiled three thematic R&D roadmaps on tropical EV batteries, power electronics, machinery and drives and EV charging infrastructure prepared by DST. At the same time, a soft copy of these reports was also uploaded to the DST website.

Previously, DST published a white paper on eMobility, followed by the publication of the eMobility R&D Roadmap by PSA Office. The culmination of these two reports, together with three thematic R&D roadmaps, resulted in the creation of the Mission for Advancement in High-impact Areas (MAHA): EV-Mission, which will be led by ANRF.

The brainstorming meeting was also attended by Dr. Anita Gupta, Head of Climate, Energy and Sustainable Transport (CEST) and other senior DST and ANRF officials.

The MAHA-EV initiative aims to increase India’s position in the global EV sector and contribute to the development of competitive, sustainable electric mobility technologies. (ANI)
