To improve the online shopping experience for consumers, Swiggy Instamart has introduced a new ‘Shopping List’ feature as part of their pilot program. The inspiration for this innovation came from an X user who highlighted how Indian shoppers typically create lists for retailers.

The person shared on the social media platform: “Guys at Blinkit, Swiggy, Zepto. Please listen. Indian store via shopping lists. They go to a store, give the list to the storekeeper, he gets everything. It is very difficult to search, choose the quantity and add items to your cart one by one on your platforms. Provide a functionality to upload a list. And it clears the cart for me. Thank you.”

In response, Swiggy co-founder Phani Kishan said: “Well, we heard you, Gabbar Singh. The feature is in pilot phase and we will gradually scale it to all users. Here is a little demo of your shopping list, Swiggy Instamart.

He shared details about this unique feature, which allows users to easily create shopping lists by scanning, writing or speaking into the app. Once the user makes an order, the app automatically fills their shopping cart with the necessary items, saving time.

The announcement has received a positive response from consumers, who are eager to explore this easy-to-use addition.

Commenting on the post, one user wrote: “This is brilliant. Does not select the SKU but gives the consumer the choice without performing 24 different searches. Great execution and logic.”

Another suggested: “Super cool. A small improvement: automatically add the item to the shopping cart based on the customer’s previous purchase and show that item first in the carousel. Customers tend to stick to a particular brand for most items (e.g. paneer, toor dal, etc.).”

Another suggested: ‘Very necessary. I hope it can do the same for a handwritten grocery list with sticky notes. Volunteer as a beta tester,”

Since the post was shared on X, it has been viewed more than seven times.
