MARLBOROUGH, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) – A woman in Connecticut was arrested Saturday, accused of driving nearly 110 mph with an infant and young child in the backseat.

State police proactively conducted speed enforcement and clocked a gray sedan traveling 105 mph in a posted 65 mph zone.

Police say the driver maintained his speed even when the officer activated the emergency lights and siren.

Authorities say the driver, 21-year-old Brianna Guerin, eventually stopped on the right shoulder. As the officer approached the car, he saw an infant and a young child in the backseat.

Guerin told the officer she was speeding because she had to go to the bathroom, despite passing several rest areas.

The car’s registration was also suspended due to failure to meet insurance requirements.

Guerin was arrested and charged with reckless driving, two counts of risk of injury to a child, reckless endangerment and illegal operation of a suspended motor vehicle.
