Meeting Monday night to discuss 0 million plans to renovate Palmer High

COLORADO SPRINGS – Monday evening, Colorado Springs School District 11 will meet to discuss future renovations at Palmer High School in downtown Colorado Springs.

As the oldest operating school in Colorado Springs, many have spoken out about preserving the school’s history while also making some much-needed changes. The school district has set aside $100 million in existing funding for this project, hoping to give the school the upgrades it needs.

“We really love the school,” says one parent. “We want to make sure it retains its history and culture, perhaps just with a new outfit.”

Connor Strange, president of the Palmer High Student Body, is optimistic that the renovations will have a positive outcome for both students and faculty.

One change he wants to see is an improvement to the school’s air conditioning, saying the current state doesn’t provide for that.

“At the beginning of the school year or the end of the school year it usually gets quite hot. It makes the class a bit miserable sometimes, but you know the teachers are absolutely trying their best to make the best of it, kind of a crappy situation Strange said.

Back inside September This year, District 11 received input from more than 100 community members, alumni, students and parents at the community’s first town hall.

Some other issues the community has raised concerns about include new windows, a larger cafeteria and major repairs to the venue.

The town hall meeting will take place in the Palmer Auditorium at 6 p.m
