Weather warning: strong winds and fire danger on Tuesday

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A Storm Team 12 weather warning is out for high winds and fire danger on Tuesday, with much of the state likely to see gusts of more than 50 miles per hour. It could cause some power outages and minor wind damage, in addition to spreading grass fires more quickly. There will be some rain along the way, but it won’t reach the area until mid-week.

Expect highs to remain in the 80s on Tuesday, with wind gusts from the south all day. Scattered showers and storms will impact northern Kansas Tuesday night before spreading south and east Wednesday. Severe weather is possible in areas of central and eastern Kansas on Wednesday (hail and wind are the main threats). The storms will also receive some heavier rainfall before moving out early Thursday.

Halloween looks cool this year, but it will be dry and the winds will be much lower. Highs will remain in the lower 60s.

More rain and active weather are planned this weekend and through Election Day.
