Albany man, 18, hit woman, stole vehicle

An 18-year-old Albany man has been arrested for allegedly carjacking a woman. Antonio Guynup approached the 30-year-old victim around 2 a.m. Monday in the area of ​​Washington Avenue and Quail Street. He punched her in the face several times before stealing her car, Albany police said. The victim had cuts to her eye and chin. She was treated at the scene and taken to Albany Memorial Hospital.

Antonio Guynup approached the 30-year-old victim around 2 a.m. Monday in the area of ​​Washington Avenue and Quail Street. He punched her in the face several times before stealing her vehicle, Albany police said.

The victim had cuts to her eye and chin. She was treated at the scene and taken to Albany Memorial Hospital.

An officer observed Guynup driving the victim’s vehicle in the area of ​​Myrtle Avenue and South Pine Street. Guynup reportedly refused to stop and exited the vehicle while it was still moving. It crashed in the area of ​​Morris Street and Patridge Street. Guynup was arrested nearby.

Guynup was charged with theft, grand theft, unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and reckless endangerment, as well as traffic violations.

He was arraigned in Albany City Court and booked into the Albany County Jail on $25,000 bail.
