Ballot box fires in Oregon and Washington are linked; Police identify the suspect’s car

Local law enforcement officials said Monday that three separate incidents of ballot box burnings in Oregon and Washington are linked, and that they have identified a “suspicious vehicle” in the case.

Security camera footage from the Multnomah County Elections Office in Portland captured a Volvo pulling up to the mailbox just outside the county building early Monday morning, shortly before the fire was discovered there. The vehicle was a black or dark-colored Volvo S-60, police said. A license plate is missing from the front.
