One man killed, another seriously injured in a head-on collision in Nyora

Police say the man was driving a Holden sedan along the South Gippsland Highway when he collided with a silver Mazda at the intersection of Nyora-St Helier Road in Nyora about 5.20am.

He died at the scene and has yet to be formally identified by police.

The driver of the Mazda, a Poowong man in his 30s, was taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The police are still investigating the exact cause of the fatal accident.

Victoria Police said 230 lives would be lost on Victoria’s roads by 2024.
