One death after domestic situation in Barry County ends with deputy-involved shooting

HOPE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Barry County on Monday evening.

According to the Barry County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), the shooting happened in the 7000 block of Kingsbury Road in Hope Township before 7:30 p.m.

We’re told officers responded to a domestic complaint involving a firearm.

BCSO says the public is not in danger from the incident.

The Michigan State Police (MSP) is investigating the shooting and the officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave as per standard protocol, the sheriff’s office said.
