Path of Exile II Early Access postponed until December 6

Grinding equipment games has launched Early Access of to play for free action RPG Way of Exile II of his previously planned Release date November 15 to December 6. It will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox seriesAnd PC via Steam And Epic games store.

Here’s the full post about it Way of Exile II game director Jonathan Rogers on the delay:

Here’s the text without the timestamps:

Hello, I’m Jonathan Rogers, game director of Way of Exile II.

Unfortunately I have very bad news. We need to delay early access by three weeks. The new date is December 6. I’m really sorry. People schedule time off and stuff around our launches, but we just have to do it.

So what happened? Well, it turns out it’s not really the game itself that we’re rooting for. It’s a lot of infrastructure work on the server side that has taken us much longer than we expected.

One of the most important promises we made is that all your microtransactions will work for both Way of Exile I And II. To do that, we need to integrate more than just the account systems Way of Exile I And IIbut also for the console worlds. This meant that many things had to be changed. Not only do we have to create a bunch of new systems, we have to make sure that only old data is backwards compatible with them.

And when you start migrating databases that are so old and contain so much data, you encounter all kinds of strange demons. How do multiple accounts get the same name? How do multiple accounts get the same email address? How do multiple accounts have the same Steam IDs? Why is this person’s account name just random gibberish that can’t even be decoded?

We need to get everything perfect so that no one loses anything they paid for and no one sees their account broken. At the same time, because we’re changing all this back-end code, we have to do a lot of load testing to make sure the whole thing doesn’t fall over if they can get the massive number of players we expected at launch.

I actually believe that we could have possibly met the original launch date, but I am no longer confident that we could do so without making mistakes. And these are the kinds of mistakes we shouldn’t let happen. With that in mind we have decided to postpone.

This one is all up to me now. I just didn’t have enough time to make sure we could get it done. And I’m really sorry. This one really hurts.

Now we’re going to do a live stream talking about all the content you can expect Way of Exile II‘s early access in about four weeks. You can think of it as the biggest league announcement we’ve ever made. I’m really looking forward to telling you about the endgame content the team has been working hard on.

Until then, thank you very much for your support.
