Man dead, three injured after garbage truck crash in Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – One man is dead and three others were injured, including a child, after a crash involving a garbage truck and two other vehicles in northeast Phoenix Monday afternoon.

The accident happened nearby just before 3:30 p.m 40th and Cholla Streetsnorth of Shea Boulevard.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Two men and a child were taken to hospital but were expected to survive, police said.

Video from the AZFamily news helicopter showed extensive damage to a white pickup, a black passenger car and a Waste Management truck.

It is unclear what led to the crash. Phoenix police are investigating.

Expect delays as 40th Street in the area is closed.
