OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – After a stormy day yesterday, we will see the wind reach new levels today.

Southerly wind gusts could reach 50 miles per hour this afternoon, further increasing the already high fire risk.

A red flag warning is in effect for much of the area; Any fires that do occur can get out of hand very quickly.

Temperatures will peak around 80 degrees today, by far our warmest day in the forecast.

The wind remains active well into the night with gusts of up to 35 kilometers per hour.

As we approach sunrise, some storms will be possible.

As the morning progresses, the chance of scattered showers and storms increases, likely in the afternoon.

A few of these will produce gusty winds and hail, especially southeast of the metro.

Temperatures will peak around 60 degrees in the morning, but will stick around in the mid 50s for most of Wednesday with a breezy northwest wind.
