Heung-Min Son is not quite ready to be involved against Manchester City in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening, Ange Postecoglou revealed.

Our Club Captain made a goalscoring return from a hamstring injury against West Ham United in the Premier League on October 19, but has since missed our Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar and the 1-0 league defeat to Crystal Palace last time out.

Sonny has missed five of our last six games in all competitions after being forced off in the UEL win against Qarabag on September 26 and Ange confirmed on Tuesday (October 29) that he will remain out for tomorrow night’s cup tie.

Our Head Coach is now preparing the side for back-to-back home games – City in the Carabao Cup last 16 (8.15pm UK) followed by Villa in the league on Sunday (2pm) – and the aim is for our captain to return in our league fixture on weekends.

“Sonny is almost fit, but from our perspective we are probably aiming for the weekend,” Ange said at his press conference.
