BRUSSELS Airlines has restarted its flights from Birmingham Airport after suspending operations earlier this year.

Flights between Birmingham Airport and Brussels Airport with the airline were discontinued in the summer.

It was widely reported that the airline had ceased operations at 7 p.m Birmingham Airport to “focus on more profitable leisure routes”.

However, the route has been reinstated just months after it was axed by the airline.

Six to flee will fly weekly between the two destinations.

The flights will depart Brussels at 3.45pm local time and arrive in Britain at 4pm.

The services then leave Birmingham Airport at 4.45pm before landing Brussels at 6:55 PM local time.

Flights between the two destinations take 70 minutes.

Sun Online Travel has found single fares from £92.50.

Adam Parker, senior aviation manager at Birmingham Airport, said: “Brussels Airlines has been a partner of Birmingham Airport for many years and first served the region since 1992.

“The six times a week service is ideally placed to ensure both company and leisure passengers have easy access to the Belgium capital.

“We are pleased to welcome Brussels Airlines back to our portfolio of airlines, so that we are truly on track to serve the future Midlands.”

Major airline with UK flights unveils new economy cabin seats

This isn’t the only announcement the airline has made in recent weeks cabins that need to be overhauled.

In September, the European airline announced its massive expansion plans, including a €100 million cabin renewal.

The new one interiors will be found on its long-haul flights, with economy, premium economy and business classs cabins are all ready to be updated.

Brussels Airlines boss Dorothea von Boxberg previously said: “The multi-million investment in the cabin interior allows us to offer our customers an even more premium experience.

“This is a moment of pride for everyone at Brussels Airlines.

“It is with great pleasure that we will be offering more connections to our increasing number of passengers on our growing network.”

Brussels Airlines is also adding three new ones Airbus Added A330 aircraft to its fleet, increasing the number to 13.

Brussels Airlines currently has flights from a number of London airportsas well as Manchester Airport, Bristol Airport and Newcastle International Airport.

The airline has also won a number of awards this year, including Europe’s Leading Airline Lounge at the World Travel Awards.

Baggage rules for major airlines

British respiratory system

  • Hand luggage: 1 hand luggage (max 56 x 45 x 25 cm) and 1 personal item (max 40 x 30 x 15 cm), total weight maximum 23 kg.
  • Checked baggage: In Economy, 1 bag up to 23 kg is allowed. Premium Economy, Business and First Class allow more.

EasyJet

  • Hand luggage: 1 small carry-on bag (max. 45 x 36 x 20 cm), no weight limit but must fit under the seat.
  • Checked baggage: Surcharges apply, up to 23 kg per bag. Passengers can pay for extra weight up to 32 kg.

Ryanair

  • Hand luggage: 1 small bag (max. 40 x 20 x 25 cm). For priority boarding, an additional larger carry-on baggage is permitted (max. 55 x 40 x 20 cm, maximum 10 kg).
  • Checked baggage: Charges apply, options for 10kg or 20kg bags.

Virgin Atlantic Ocean

  • Hand luggage: In Economy and Premium, 1 piece of hand luggage is allowed (max. 56 x 36 x 23 cm, maximum 10 kg). 2 bags are allowed in Upper Class.
  • Checked baggage: Economy Light has no checked baggage. In Economy Classic, Delight and Premium, at least 1 bag up to 23 kg is allowed. 2 bags are allowed in Upper Class.

Emirates

  • Hand luggage: In Economy, 1 bag is allowed (max. 55 x 38 x 20 cm, maximum 7 kg). In Business and First Class, 2 bags are allowed (total maximum 12 kg).
  • Checked baggage: Economy Class varies by fare type (from 20 kg to 35 kg). In Business and First Class, 40 kg and 50 kg respectively are allowed.

Ryanair recently launched a route from Newcastle to Marrakesh.

Earlier this year, Jet2 confirmed that a new route will operate between them Manchester airport and Porto.
