Which Yellowstone characters are likely to die in Season 5, Part 2?

Which Yellowstone characters are likely to die in Season 5, Part 2?

Taylor Sheridan’s small-screen Western drama is just a few weeks away from ending, and I suspect that means the Grim Reaper has his eye on several Yellowstone characters.

Yellowstone has never been afraid to take out characters in gruesome ways. In fact, all you have to do is check out our rankings of the most shocking deaths in Yellowstone to see how some poor souls met their fate.

As the battle for the Dutton ranch comes to a climax Season 5, part 2There’s no doubt heads will roll, cowboy hats and all. But which one Yellowstone Characters are most likely to die, and who could make it out alive?

Here’s our rundown of who we think is on the chopping block, courtesy of that pale horseman known as Death.

John Duton

Kevin Costner as John Dutton in Yellowstone

Pronunciation: Dead

Oh man, oh man. No one has ever been there before So dead. Of Kevin Costner‘s unexpected departure from Yellowstone shocked fans in 2023, it was immediately assumed that its King of Cowboys, John Dutton, would likely be axed off-screen. It’s the solution that makes the most sense, with John’s fictional death serving as the final push for Beth, Kayce, and Jamie to take their final steps for (or against, in Jamie’s case) his beloved ranch.

Let’s look at the facts: John has been on the brink of death before. In his time on screen, John has endured cancer, a burst stomach ulcer and an assassination attempt that left him in a coma. There’s only so much one man can handle! Let him have peace!

Bet Dutton

Kelly Reilly as Beth Dutton in Yellowstone, sitting in a car and leaning back

Pronunciation: Safe

If ever there was someone who could kill the Beth Dutton, we wouldn’t want to meet them. From the beginning, Beth has proven to be a force to be reckoned with and is quite possibly the deadliest person in the world. Dutton’s family tree. (In her own words, you are the trailer park, she is the tornado.) Beth simply has too many plans, too many spinning plates to be killed.

And as annoying as Beth can be, it wouldn’t be right. Of all the Dutton children, she has worked the longest and hardest to fulfill John’s wishes, working day and night to outsmart all their enemies. Ultimately, she may not want the ranch, but she will certainly live long enough to pass the ranch on to the next generation.

Jamie Dutton

Wes Bentley as Jamie Dutton in Yellowstone

Pronunciation: Dead

Oh, Jamie. They never deserved you. Anyone who has experienced the bumpy ups and downs of Jamie’s miserable life has likely experienced a spectrum of feelings towards the black sheep of the Dutton family. Hate, irritation and pity are all part of the Jamie package. But in the end, Jamie was raised by a family that mostly didn’t like him, bred to be something he never wanted to be.

When he discovered that he was never really a Dutton in the first place, he tried to make his own way in the world. However, with a life sentence arguing with Beth and a major betrayal of John and the ranch, it is more than likely that Jamie will be escorted to the ranch Train station towards the end of season 5. After all, Beth already told us that.

Kayce Dutton

Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton in Yellowstone

Pronunciation: Safe

As the golden-haired, sad-eyed boy of the Dutton clan, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who wishes Kayce a bad fate. He just wants to live his life, protect his family, and ensure Monica and Tate can exist outside the country’s violent borders. Dutton Farm.

John keeps pulling him back in, but Kayce is a war veteran with a calm temper and a good head on his shoulders. Statistically speaking, he won’t find himself in the grave. Plus, there’s the matter of his vision quest in Season 4, where he ominously told Monica that he saw “the end of us.” That might mean leaving the Duttons behind once and for all, but dying? We don’t think so.

Tear Wieler

Cole Hauser as Rip Wheeler in Yellowstone

Pronunciation: Safe

Once upon a time, it might have been plausible that Rip would finally meet his maker at the end of the show. He lives off the radar, without a name and without legal status with the government. Essentially, he is a nobody who has lived most of his life in the service of John Dutton. Anyone who knows Rip knows he would die to protect John and Beth.

But Rip is a man of muscle and violence, and it would take a lot to actually put him down. And just like Beth, his story is not yet finished. Rumors of Season 6 and a Rip/Beth spin-off has been circulating for months. If that’s right slightly If there’s a chance, they won’t kill him anytime soon.

Monica Dutton

Kelsey Asbille as Monica Dutton in Yellowstone

Pronunciation: Indefinite

Monica is Yellowstone’s great tragedy, and not just because Taylor Sheridan doesn’t know what to do with her. From the beginning, Monica was treated as the moral opposition to John’s actions, or as a preachy teacher who didn’t know what she wanted. As such, she has found herself in hot water multiple times and survived a near-death experience time and time again.

She was almost killed by a blow to the head, an assassination attempt and a car accident in which she lost her unborn child. That’s a lot of trauma and damage you can inflict on a poor character. But at the end of the day, it takes precedence that something happens to Monica, even if she doesn’t deserve it. Stay informed.

Tate Dutton

Brecken Merrill as Tate Dutton in Yellowstone

Pronunciation: Safe

Lee is dead. Beth hates the ranch. Kayce doesn’t want to be involved. Jamie is a traitor. John Dutton has only one bright spot on his ranch, and that is his only biological grandson Tate. The soul of Yellowstone is found in John’s obsession with his family’s legacy and future. Now it all rests on Tate’s young shoulders.

He becomes the sole heir to the ranch. And with connections to the Broken Rock Reservation, he’s the only one who could fulfill the 1883 prophecy. (“Seven generations from now, my people will rise up and take it back from you.”) The Duttons’ future may seem shaky for now, but if there is one, it lies with Tate.

Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 arrives on the Paramount Network on November 10.
