Ange Postecoglou confirms 'serious' Spurs news as injury problems mount

Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Tottenham’s summer signing Wilson Odobert has suffered a “serious” setback in his recovery from injury.

The £25million former Burnley striker returned as a substitute against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League last Thursday after more than a month away with a hamstring problem.

However, he was not in the squad for Sunday’s hugely disappointing 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace and Postecoglou has confirmed that the talented 19-year-old will be on the sidelines again.

Postecoglou said ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup match against Manchester City, having already revealed the absence of captain Son Heung-min: “The only other one who is missing and which is a bit of a disappointment is Wilson, who has had a setback . during the week and it looks like it’s a serious event, so we’re just waiting for more information. Odobert has played five games Tottenham since his summer switch from the Clarets, making three starts and coming off the bench twice.
