Columbia Public Schools will form a naming committee for the new elementary school

Columbia Public Schools announced the formation of a committee to name the new elementary school.

The school will be located next to John Warner Middle School on Sinclair Road.

The district began construction in August and the school should be open in the fall of 2026.

The committee will consist of four parents who are representatives of the school’s educational area, a student from the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council to provide feedback, and two community members who live within the boundaries of the school district.

The district administrator and school principal will serve as co-chairs without voting rights.

Parents can do that provide names for the parent representatives, and community members can submit names for the community member representatives.

If necessary, a drawing is made.

Entries must be received by November 8 at 5:00 PM.

The Board of Education will establish the committee during its work session on November 21.
