Gia Allemand had an infectious smile and vibrant personality that shined throughout Bachelor Nation. Fans fell in love with the New York native after her reality TV debut during season 14 of The bachelor in 2010 and were heartbroken when she died three years later.

How Did Bachelor Pad’s Gia Allemand Die?

Gia died by apparent suicide at her New Orleans home in 2013. She took her own life after getting into an argument with her boyfriend Ryan Andersonaccording to a report from ABC Newswho obtained court documents.

According to the paperwork, the former NFL player told Gia he was no longer in love with her when he dropped her off at her apartment complex. Later that evening, Gia’s mother, Donna Micheletticalled Ryan and asked him to come over to Gia’s house because she was concerned that “something was wrong” with her daughter.

Upon arriving at Gia’s home, Ryan told officials he found her with a cord “wrapped around her neck many times.” According to the report, Gia wrote a note that read, “Mommy gets everything.” It was found next to her body.

A neighbor called 911 and once first responders arrived on scene, they performed CPR on Gia before transporting her to University Medical Center in New Orleans. Gia was placed on life support for two days before being discharged and died on August 14, 2013.

“Due to severe loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn today,” Gia’s family wrote in a statement on the day she died. “Mrs. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend and other lifelong friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia received the Sacrament of the Last Sacraments.”

Gia reached the final three during Jake Pavelka‘s season of The bachelor next to participants Vienna Girardi And Tenley Molzahn. Not only did her sweet soul capture the hearts of viewers, but her attitude following her post-fantasy suite elimination cemented her place among Bachelor Nation’s favorites.

After Jake sent Gia home before the Bachelor season 14 finale, Gia showed up The Ellen DeGeneres Show – and spoke only highly of Jake and his last two wives.

“I think Tenley would be the obvious choice because they have so much in common,” Gia told Ellen at the time. “But Vienna, when they’re together – since they went on a 2-on-1 date with her – it’s just fine. They just go.”

Gia later said that she “really liked Vienna and (thought) she was a very good person.”

Jake responded to Gia’s death via a statement from his publicist: Charmaine Blakesaying, “We have lost an angel and a very dear friend.”

Gia made sure she returned to the silver screen shortly after returning home The bachelor. Gia joined the season 1 cast alongside some of her former costars Bachelor path in 2010.

Despite dominating and winning the pie eating competition in Week 2, Gia was eliminated the following week.

Fans celebrate Gia Allemand after her death

People mourned Gia’s death, but have continued her legacy by shining a light on her best moments. In 2020, a Reddit user shared how much they love Gia and uploaded a clip of the late ABC star from her 2-on-1 date with Vienna and Jake.

“Gia was such a shining star. She was so nice and her high voice was very cute. She was my father and my favorite contestant ever,” the person said wrote. “We really thought she would be the next Bachelorette. Here’s a fun video of her being honest and real with Jake. It’s so crazy looking through her Instagram. It’s like a time capsule to 2013. I can’t believe it was that long ago.”

Other Bachelor Nation stars also mourned Gia with tributes.

“#BachelorNation please join me in sending thoughts and prayers 2 @GiaAllemand’s family and all those blessed 2 know her. #angeltoosoon,” season 1 Bachelorette Trista Sutter wrote via X on August 14, 2013.

“My heart is heavy. Thank you Gia for leaving an example of how to live a beautiful life. Thank you for letting your light shine,” Tenley wrote via Instagram at the time. “Thank you for this reminder… You did well in everything you did. Thanks for the laugh. @GiaAllemand Continued prayers for the loved ones she left behind.”
