Atlantic City man pleads guilty to stabbing charge and faces up to five years in prison

MAYS LANDING, NJ – Rashaun Williams, 39, of Atlantic City, pleaded guilty Friday to charges of aggravated assault in the third degree and possession of a weapon in the fourth degree by a certain person. The plea was entered before Atlantic County Superior Court Judge Dorothy Incarvito-Garrabrant, where a negotiated agreement recommended a five-year state prison sentence.

The charges stemmed from an incident on August 13, when Atlantic City police responded to reports of a stabbing at an Atlantic Avenue convenience store. According to police, officers found the victim with stab wounds to the arm, stomach and leg and the individual was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Williams was arrested shortly afterwards, still in possession of the pocket knife used in the attack. Authorities said the attack was recorded on surveillance footage obtained from the supermarket.

In addition to the prison sentence, the terms of the plea include a no-contact order with the attack victim. Williams’ sentencing is scheduled for January 3, 2025.
