Looks like another one of our predictions is coming true, like The young and the restlessNate (Sean Dominic) discovers he has a half-brother in the episode airing October 29.

In the episode, Amy (Valarie Pettiford) visits Nate at his house and drops a few bombs. She explains that when she left Genoa City years ago, she discovered she was pregnant with Nathan Hastings Sr.’s child. But instead of telling Nate’s father about the baby, she let the other man she loved, Jackson, believe he was the father. Decades pass, and with Jackson dead and her dying of leukemia, Amy feels it’s time she finally tells her son Damien the truth about his biological father. She wants him to know that after she dies, he is not alone and has a brother in Nate.

Understandably, Nate is shocked by the news. As if that weren’t enough, Amy explains that she needs Nate’s help to track down Damien to tell him all this before it’s too late. She notes that Damien has a tendency to disappear every now and then, and that she has lost touch with him.

Nate doesn’t want to help her, and she gives him some time to think about it. However, we think he’ll be looking for his sibling soon, but there’s a chance he’ll prioritize Devon’s (Bryton James) wedding first.

That said, we feel like Amy is leaving some things out of this story about her son. Things that might catch Nate off guard when he finds his brother.

Some major red flags were raised when Amy noticed her son’s tendency to disappear. We couldn’t help but ask why he feels the need to do that, especially when his mother is the only family he thinks he has left? And even if he disappears for moments of solitude, it sounds strange that she has absolutely no way to contact him.

Then, going back to when Amy summoned Nate to her home a few weeks ago to allegedly give him some of Nathan’s stuff, Nate shared with Devon and Lily (Christel Khalil) that he felt like he was being vetted to determine whether he is a good guy. Is it possible that Amy was vetting Nate to see if he would be a good influence on Damien? If so, why would Nate’s older brother need to be a good influence?

If we had to guess, when Nate finds Damien, he will likely discover that he has some baggage that could prove to be quite dangerous. Before Nathan became a private investigator he worked with Paul (Doug Davidson), he found himself in criminal circles. Could this be a situation where Damien is a chip off the old block and is now running into criminal circles himself? Does Amy hope Nathan can save his brother from that lifestyle?

It is all certainly possible. We admit, we’re happy to see Nathan gain another family member, especially if his personality is a bit edgy. We can already imagine Damien moving to Genoa City and clashing with Devon as he becomes skeptical of Damien and protective of Nathan. Plus, we think it could be interesting if Damien manages to worm his way into Lily’s heart and spark a new romance (viewers should remember that Lily is Nathan’s cousin, but she is said to be unrelated to Damien ). For now, we’ll just have to wait and see how this all plays out for the Hastings/Winters group.

New episodes of The young and the restless airs weekdays on CBS. Episodes will be available to stream Paramount Plus the next day.
