Carthage man sentenced to 750 years for child pornography

CARTHAGO, Texas (KLTV) – A Carthage man has been sentenced to 750 years for possession of child pornography, which the district attorney says is the longest sentence in Panola County history.

On Monday, Judge LeAnn Rafferty held a trial for 36-year-old Christopher James Williamson, who was charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography. Williamson was previously arrested on February 6 on the 10 charges, with bail set at $500,000.

A press release from the District Attorney’s Office said a DPS special agent served as lead investigator, and he claimed that of “dozens and dozens of cases he has investigated, this was by far the worst case he has ever seen.”

A nurse who testified as an expert witness said that not only were the victims children under the age of 18, but they were all pre-pubescent.

Williamson was sentenced Tuesday to 75 years in prison for each of the 10 charges. Due to a motion filed by the state, the sentences will run consecutively, the news release said.
