Robin Wright explains why she never hung out with Tom Hanks on the ‘Forrest Gump’ set

Robin Wright recently revealed that she and Tom Hanks never really got to know each other while working on “Forrest Gump” – but that’s not all she has to say about it.

On Monday, she explained to “Today” that the reason the two actors didn’t bond on set was because Hanks – who played Forrest – was just too busy, well, Wooded.

“We were racing around shooting that movie and every lunch break Tom was running, just running wherever they could get him, so we couldn’t really hang out,” she told the outlet.

In the Oscar-winning 1994 film, running is an important aspect of Hank’s titular character. As a child, Forrest becomes a runner because he has to outrun his bullies. As an adult, he embarks on an epic three-year sprint across the United States, “for no particular reason.”

The film features Hanks running through numerous scenic locations across the country, such as the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina and Monument Valley in Utah and Arizona. according to Smithsonian Magazine.

“It was literally like getting the band back together,” she said of working on the compelling drama about generations of people living on the same piece of land.

Of Zemeckis and Hanks, she added, “I would do anything with Bob and Tom.”
