Yankees fans pry ball from Mookie Betts’ glove in wild interference play

Two Yankees fans drew the ire of social media in the first inning of Game 4 by the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Gleyber Torres hit a fly ball to right field and Mookie Betts ran to try to make the play. He made the catch and a fan grabbed Betts’ glove to hold it in the air and reached in to try to get the ball out. Betts reached out in an attempt to remove the fan’s hand from his glove, but another person reached in and grabbed Betts’ right wrist. The ball was pulled out while Betts was being restrained.

The first inning of New York’s win-or-go-home Game 4 was tough for New York. Freddie Freeman hit another home run to start the scoring for the Dodgers to become the first Major League Baseball player to hit a home run in six consecutive World Series games.
