Belpre City Council Approves Ordinances, Resolutions During Regular Meeting | News, sports, jobs

BELPRE – The Belpre City Council approved several ordinances and resolutions during its regular meeting Monday evening.

Council approved the second and third readings of an ordinance authorizing the city to collect 19.5 percent of the legally required contribution to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement and Pension Funds for employees of the Belpre Police Department.

The Council approved all three readings of a resolution authorizing the mayor to sell a truck to the city of Athens and a separate one to purchase a new truck for the city of Belpre.

Council also approved all three readings of an ordinance authorizing the mayor to execute a deed and other documents to facilitate the transfer of real property to the City of Belpre. This involves some adjustment of property boundaries between the city of Belpre and Boxer’s Bed and Biscuits on Washington Boulevard, based on a corrected survey, said Tom Webster, Belpre’s legal director.

In her report to council, Mayor Susan Abdella said she met with Washington County 911 Director Doug Moore on Monday to discuss changes to the local 911 system.

On November 12, Belpre will receive all 911 calls within its boundaries and will be required to ensure that the city’s police department becomes NexGen 911 compliant by October 2025.

“The chief (Michael Stump) and our team will be working on this review and documents,” Abdella said.

The Council’s Finance/Audit Committee has begun a series of meetings to prepare the 2025 budget. Upcoming meetings are: November 11 at 6:15 PM, November 18 at 4:30 PM, November 25 at 6:15 PM, December 2 at 4:30 PM, December 9 at 6:15 PM, and December 16 at 6:15 PM
