Grand Jury Considers Falls Rape Case | News, sports, jobs

NEWTON FALLS – A Newton Falls man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl had his case assigned to a Trumbull County grand jury on Tuesday.

Terry L. Weekly, 55, is charged with rape in connection with the reported rape of a minor in the Newton Falls School District. Chief Inspector Andreas Johansson confirmed that the attack did not take place on school grounds but was reported to school authorities.

“We are always going to do what is best for the children and support our children at every level we can,” said Johansson.

Weekly was arrested Thursday after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He remains in the Trumbull County Jail on a $250,000 bond following a hearing Tuesday in Newton Falls Municipal Court. If he is released, he will no longer be allowed to have contact with minors.

His next legal proceedings will depend on the outcome of the grand jury’s review of the case. According to a report from the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, the attack occurred on October 22.
