Tasmania police inspector sacked over allegations of sexual misconduct at Christmas parties

A Tasmania Police inspector has been dismissed from the force following an investigation into alleged sexual misconduct at a Christmas party in Hobart last December.

The officer’s dismissal follows a “comprehensive professional standards investigation” into internal complaints launched earlier this year.

Police Commissioner Donna Adams had lost confidence in the officer and her suitability to continue in the role.

“The Tasmanian community has high expectations of its police service and we have been entrusted with significant powers to carry out our duties to keep people safe,” Adams said.

“The conduct of any police officer can impact the community’s trust in the police to provide this service.”

The officer was placed on leave following the incident and dismissed under section 30(1) of the Police Service Act 2003.
