New provider announced for bus services in Derbyshire

The DCT operated the council’s shopping bus service in Chesterfield, Bolsover, North East Derbyshire, Erewash and Amber Valley.

It also operated the pilot Travel Derbyshire On Demand bookable bus service through Chesterfield, Bolsover and North East Derbyshire.

The authority said these services will operate “exactly as they are now” and that the booking app used for the on-demand service will remain the same.

Charlotte Cupit, the provincial council’s cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “We know these services are a lifeline to many communities across the province, so we have worked hard to secure their continuation.”

The authority added that it had now identified operators who could take on all the services that DCT managed on its behalf and that it aimed to “make the transfer of these services as streamlined as possible”.

CT4N director Barry Allitt added: “It is always worrying when an operator like Derbyshire Community Transport takes the step to cease trading.

“CT4N will now work with the team currently operating the services so that all well-known and friendly drivers can continue to work with CT4N in the future.”
