Naxalites kill a man on suspicion of being a police informer in Chhattisgarh

BIJAPUR: A 35-year-old man was killed by Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on suspicion of being a police informer, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Tuesday evening at Putkel village within the limits of Basaguda police station, a police official said here.

After being alerted, a police team was sent to the area in the morning, he said.

“According to preliminary information, the Naxalites killed Dinesh Pujari, a resident of Putkel, using sharp weapons. Pamphlets released by the Pamed Area Committee of Maoists were recovered from the spot where they accused Pujari of acting as a police informer,” the spokesperson said. official said.

Police have launched a search operation in the area to track down the attackers, he added.

In this incident, according to police, 53 persons have been killed by Naxalites in separate places of Bastar division, which covers seven districts including Bijapur, so far this year.
