Callers initially described the disturbance as a verbal argument, but later as a physical attack on the woman.

Officers arrived on scene and issued commands to the man, who was uncooperative, according to the department. Officers said he resisted arrest and later determined he was seriously injured. Officers requested medical personnel to respond to the scene, who then transported him to a hospital for further care.

The man is being investigated for assault and domestic violence.
