OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Our 6th First Alert Weather Day has ended for Tuesday as the worst of the fire danger has subsided… however, winds will remain strong overnight before a cold front moves in Wednesday morning.

The cold front will arrive for the metro around 7am…at this point we will be near 70 degrees and that will be the warmest it will feel all day. Temperatures will drop throughout the day with an “afternoon high” around 55 p.m.

The chances of storms also increase during the day. Scattered showers are possible after 4am, with a greater chance of storms around 11am-1pm. These bring the chance of heavy rain showers and as they move south-east the more severe threat develops.

The best storm chances will be east of the metro at 6pm, with some lingering showers possible overnight.

A few storms, mainly southeast of the metro, bring the threat of 60 mph wind gusts and hail over 1″… a tornado or two cannot be ruled out for the far SE corner of the viewing area.

In addition, we remain cooler and more active with varying rain chances in the weather forecast. Halloween will be cool but dry, with highs in the mid-50s.
