Geauga County Sheriff Deputy Injured, Business Majorly Damaged in Accident

MUNSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio – A family-owned business in Munson Township was severely damaged after a crash involving a Geauga County Sheriff’s truck and cruiser.

Ohio State Highway Patrol confirms that a 29-year-old Sheriff Deputy was taken to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries after the crash.

The Country Farleys Store now has a large yellow tarpaulin over the front and debris is strewn everywhere.

Emergency responders closed Mayfield Road at State Route 44 in Munson.

They were called here just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday about the accident involving the two vehicles.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Sheriff’s Department cruiser driven by a 29-year-old was traveling southbound when it struck a westbound Dodge Ram.

Investigators say the deputy failed to yield, forcing both the cars off the road and out of the building.

The owners of Country Farleys Store live upstairs and heard the loud crash.

They came down to the front of their store, pretty much ripped off.

They told our Overnight News Tracker that no major injuries occurred here, but the cleanup will be unpleasant.

It comes as they prepare to celebrate the 100th anniversary of this beloved family business.

They shared images and videos documenting the aftermath and extensive damage after the crash.

The vehicles are mutilated.

The white pickup truck crashed straight into the front of the business.

A Geauga County sheriff’s cruiser is right up against it.

Investigators confirm the other driver, a 45-year-old from Chardon, was not injured.

Ohio State Highway Patrol says alcohol, drugs or speed were not a factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
