Michigan State Police arrest a man in a stabbing in Monroe County

Michigan State Police have arrested a man for allegedly stabbing a woman in Monroe County, officials announced.

Troopers from the MSP Monroe Post spoke with the victim, a 59-year-old Monroe woman, after being dispatched to Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, representatives said in a news release.

Investigators determined the critically injured woman was in a domestic violence situation and interviewed the suspect, identified as a 37-year-old Monroe man, according to the statement.

Troopers also developed probable cause for a search warrant at the suspect’s residence, where the stabbing occurred.

Officials arrested the man for assault with intent to murder and booked him into the Monroe County Jail, the release said.

The woman remains in stable condition in hospital.

State police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Trooper Evan Rzeppa at (734) 242-3500.

The incident follows a series of other stabbings in the region.

Taylor Police arrested Suspected in a fatal stabbing on Saturday.

Recently there was a 13 year old girl charged in connection with the alleged stabbing of her 7-year-old sister to death in the city.

It involved a 17-year-old charged for allegedly fatally stabbing a 64-year-old Detroit man on September 29.
