Accused burglar jumps off the roof and hides in Porta-Potty to avoid Ca. Police

A makeshift porta-potty shelter failed to save an accused burglar from arrest, California police reported.

Officers responded to a burglary at a warehouse saw a 47-year-old man jump from one of the roofs around 1:40 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, Campbell police said in a news release.

Despite orders to stop, the man ran away and officers found three backpacks containing knives and burglary tools on the roof, police said. Part of the roof had been cut open.

Officers and officers set up a perimeter and searched for the man, police said.

Officers found the man hiding in a nearby porta-potty, where he was arrested without incident, police said.

He is charged with burglary, resisting arrest, possession of burglary tools and possession of pepper spray, a Taser and concealed dirk/dagger as a felon, police said.

Campbell is located about 50 miles southeast of San Francisco.
