5-year-old killed, 3-year-old injured in bouncy castle accident

ZAPATA, Texas (KGNS/Gray News) – A 5-year-old child was killed in a Texas bouncy castle accident over the weekend.

The accident happened in Zapata County, located along the border with Mexico, when a gust of wind lifted a bouncy castle.

When first responders arrived, they found the 5-year-old with serious injuries. Unfortunately the child died.

Officials said a 3-year-old child was also injured and taken to a hospital in Laredo. The condition of that child is unknown.

Further details are not yet known. The investigation is ongoing.

Researchers have found that inflatable castle accidents between 2000 and 2021 have resulted in at least 28 deaths and nearly 500 injuries.
