Pender County School Bus Involved in Accident

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A Pender County School (PCS) bus was involved in an accident while driving students home.

Bus 249 had an accident near Hwy 117 and Woodhaven Dr. Fortunately, no students were injured.

Emergency services have been notified and are assessing the location, PCS said.

A backup bus will take students home as soon as they are released by emergency services.

PCS officials submitted the following statement:

“This afternoon, Pender County Schools Bus 249 was involved in an accident while on its afternoon route near the intersection of Highway 117 and Woodhaven Drive. There have been no reports of injuries to students and all students have been released from the scene.

“Bus 249 was transporting students from Heide Trask High School at the time of the accident. Bus 249 was able to return to the Pender County Schools bus garage.

“Pender County Schools appreciates the patience and understanding of the families involved. The safety of our students and employees remains our highest priority.”

Emergency services have been notified and are assessing the location, PCS said.
