Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa Salty Comment Draws NFL Reaction

There was a bit of “Salty Tua” on Wednesday, and the Miami Dolphins quarterback’s comments didn’t go unnoticed by a number of former NFL players, including former teammate Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Tagovailoa was asked Sunday about the mishandled snaps against the Arizona Cardinals that resulted in a 28-27 loss.

“It’s as simple as catching the ball in the gun. I’d say I’m a pretty good shortstop; I’ve got pretty good vision; I’ve got pretty good hands,” Tagovailoa said. “I would like to see a lot of other people get in the back and try to catch that ball too.

‘You saw it, but that wasn’t it ‘Brew’ (Aaron Brewer) the best and Brew knows he can do better, but it wasn’t my best either. But I’m just saying to give perspective, it’s not as simple as what it looked like sitting on the couch eating chips.”

Tagovailoa took ownership of the first trade, which he dropped in the first half.

“The one under the middle?” said Tagovailoa. “That was just my fault, that was just my fault.”

Fitzpatrick, who was Tagovailoa’s teammate in 2020, joined in on social media.

“I think that’s the definition of getting ‘chippie,’Fitzpatrick said.

Fitzpatrick, who provides analysis on Amazon Prime for Thursday Night Football broadcasts, was present for two of the three games Tagovailoa left with a concussion. After Tagovailoa suffered a concussion during the Buffalo game in Week 2, Fitzpatrick voiced his support for his friend and former teammate’s decision to return.

Then it was former NFL offensive lineman Justin Pugh’s turn to intervene, pointing out that one of the people who watches games while eating chips might at some point be called upon to To protect Tua.

You know, kind of like what happened to Pugh last season when he came off the bench to sign with the New York Giants in October.
