Los Angeles goes into a frenzy as the city celebrates the Dodgers winning the World Series

Los Angeles was ready to party on Wednesday night.

After the Dodgers won their second World Series in five years with a thrilling 7-6 Game 5 victory over the Yankees on the east coast, the city on the other side of the country went crazy: fireworks were shot off and fans took to the streets.

The Fox broadcast showed at least one part of Los Angeles with heavy traffic shooting off fireworks in the middle of the street, a scene that apparently played out in a number of different parts of the city, according to live video and photos.

Police, in videos shared on social mediawere seen in parts of the city wearing riot gear as fans took to the streets.

In some of the raucous Los Angeles scenes, fans in their state of rapture began chanting, “F–k New York, F–k New York!”

One city bus, as captured in a Reuters photo, was spray-painted.

Los Angeles police ordered dispersal orders at multiple intersections in the city, including one near Dodger Stadium.

“A dispersal order has been issued to Sunset and Vin Scully due to an unlawful assembly. Leave the area immediately and follow all officer commands,” the LAPD wrote on X.

Fans on Douglas Street and Sunset Boulevard, in at least one social media video, waved Dodgers flags and honked noisemakers.

This came after the LAPD previously issued a tactical alert. the local Fox affiliate reported.

It is not clear whether any arrests have been made.

Things were a little quieter at the Crypto.com Arena, where Kings fans – who saw LA play the Golden Knights – erupted as they watched the finals on the jumbotron.

Randy Newman’s “I Love LA” blared over the arena’s sound system as fans enjoyed the moment.

The Los Angeles Times reports this some fans in Los Angeles ventured into little Tokyo near a Shohei Ohtani mural.

Outside Yankee Stadium, the stage was also filled with Dodgers fans, who were dancing near the intersection of River Avenue and 161st Street.

Vice President Kamala Harris, an Oakland native and formerly a U.S. senator representing California, congratulated the Dodgers.

“Congratulations to the 2024 World Series Champions, Los Angeles @Dodgers! Your dominant play this season has brought joy to millions of fans around the world, including @Tweedeheer,” she wrote on X.

Douglas Emhoff, the second gentleman, admitted he was giddy as a Dodgers fan.

“I couldn’t be more proud to be a @Dodgers fan. Congratulations on becoming the World Series Champion!” he wrote on X.
