Four family members died after a violent accident involving two cars

THORNTON, Colo. (KMGH) – Two brothers in Thornton, Colorado, are mourning the loss of their family.

Their parents and two younger sisters died in a serious car accident last weekend.

The brothers say their family was on their way to Walmart for groceries when they were hit from behind.

“I couldn’t ask for a better family,” said Adam Díaz.

Their household was usually filled with music.

“She would always sing along to the songs at the top of her lungs as she drove to school,” Adam Díaz remembers.

It was also full of kindness.

“My parents always helped. No matter what happens, you can just call them and they will always be ready to help you,” added Adam Díaz.

Now their house is filled with silence.

“I get a message, the notification on my phone, saying that my sister was discovered in the crash,” Adam Díaz’s brother, Daniel, recalled.

Late Saturday evening, Thornton police responded to the car crash.

“Then I ran away. I went to my car and called my brother,” Daniel Díaz described.

The crash caused a fire that took the Díaz brothers’ entire world away.

“I saw my dad sitting in the driver’s seat, and once I saw that he was there and not moving, I knew my whole family was in there,” Adam Díaz said.

Their father Francisco drove.

“He was very quiet, but for the right people he would be very outgoing and talkative,” Adam Díaz said.

Beatriz, the mother of the family, was also in the car.

“My mother was the opposite. Wherever she was, she always made friends, whether in a store or with family,” said Adam Díaz.

Fifteen-year-old sister Paoloa and ten-year-old sister Nataly were also among the victims.

“My little sisters always wanted to go to the movies, do something, hang out,” Adam Díaz described. “They told me that four people had died in that car and I was kind of hoping that wasn’t the case.”

The brothers say their lives are just beginning.

“My father’s goal was to open the business with granite to manufacture,” said Daniel Díaz. “Our goal was to get enough money, move, have our own house and support our parents.”

Now their future is uncertain.

“We feel lost,” said Adam Díaz. “We don’t even know what the next step is. It doesn’t even seem real yet because it’s hard to believe.”

The brothers are now afraid to return to their cavernous house filled only with memories.

“It’s all going to be okay,” Adam Díaz said. “It will take some time, but it will be fine.”

A GoFundMe is set up for the two brothers; it has raised more than $110,000.

“It won’t be the same, though, coming out of work and seeing an empty house, while your parents are there for you and waiting to eat every afternoon,” said Danial Díaz.
