Alameda County is urging residents to have an evacuation plan and know their evacuation area in case of wildfires during the dry fall months.

The county is working with Genasys to help residents stay aware of potential hazards through the San Diego-based company’s Genasys Protect software program.

In addition to synchronizing with the AC Alert emergency telephone communications program, Genasys Protect provides real-time weather, traffic and shelter information and can model traffic and fire spread scenarios. It can also provide residents with information about evacuation zones.

Landline numbers are automatically entered into the AC Alert system. However, cellphone numbers and mobile devices must be registered with the province to receive emergency alerts.
