Gujarat: Father kills 5-year-old daughter conceived through IVF after 15 years

In a harrowing incident, a father allegedly killed her five-year-old daughter after hitting her with an iron table in Gujarat area on Tuesday (October 29), police officials said.

The little girl was conceived through IVF after her parents waited fifteen years for a child.

The incident took place when the accused, Dilip Kushwah, had an argument with his wife Asha, according to the FIR filed at Ramol police station. The argument quickly escalated into violence and the child began screaming for help.

According to the complaint, Dilip allegedly grabbed a curtain rod and started attacking his wife first. When the child tried to intervene, he allegedly hit her in the face and head with an iron table.

“The girl’s mother has filed a complaint and Dilip has been arrested,” said Krunal Desai, deputy commissioner of police (I division).

The suspect is charged with murder, attempted murder, voluntarily causing pain and causing pain with a heavy weapon.

Asha Kushwah, 30, lives at Vinayak Park Society in Vastral and works as a tailor, case details show. In her complaint, she said that she and Dilip were married for about 20 years.

After fifteen years of being childless, the couple opted for IVF treatment in a hospital in Nikol in 2018 and became parents of a daughter. However, two years after the couple had their first child, a daughter, Dilip started acting strangely. Like why they should spend money on the child since she wasn’t their daughter.

This is said to have led to an argument between the couple.

According to the FIR, Dilip was separated from Asha and their daughter for the past seven months.

On Tuesday morning, the day of the incident, Asha was returning after throwing away the garbage when she found Dilip in the house and asked him why he had come.

“Agitated, Dilip started hitting me on my face. He then took a steel curtain rod and hit me on my head and other parts of the body. When my daughter started screaming, he hit her with an iron table, knocking her to the ground fell off the bed,” the complaint said.

When Asha started screaming (the complaint was further stated), Dilip chased her into the kitchen and hit her with an iron stool, intending to kill her. Hearing the noise, the neighbors gathered at the house and Dilip fled. Asha is currently undergoing treatment at LG Hospital.
