Toby Fox Announces Deltarune Chapter 3&4 Will “100%” Release in 2025, Celebrating the Game’s 6th Anniversary

It’s like Christmas for Tumblr latchkey kids, or whatever.

Toby Fox is one of the lucky few indie game developers who has become famous and globally successful. How pervasive has Fox become in pop culture? Well, first of all, him helped Masahiro Sakurai with his YouTube channel. He got it too hired songs for composing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

But content creator MatPat escapes the boundaries of video games gave Pope Francis a copy of Fox’s game Understory in 2016. In 2022 the iconic Understory follow Megalovania played for the Pope when he gave one of his weekly general audiences to the public.

But Toby Fox is not known as Toby Fox; it is his games that have elevated his name and reputation. And after the success of UnderstoryFox has released another title, Deltarunein 2018.

Or it would be more accurate to say that Fox released some of it Deltarune in 2018. He announced that the game would have a total of seven chapters, but at the game’s launch, only Chapter 1 was available. Chapter 2 was subsequently released in 2019.

The last time we reported on Deltarunerevealed Fox that he had hired to meet the project’s internal deadlines. But he did not promise any dates yet, explaining that there was still some uncertainty that could cause delays.

And that brings us to Toby Fox’s tweets today. He said:

I would like to show you what we have created since 6 years ago.

Chapters 3 and 4 will be 100% published in 2025.

The specific time still depends on localization and console porting.

Just like Team Cherry and their upcoming title Hollow Knight: Silk Song“ConcernedApe” Eric Barone and Stardew Valleyand perhaps ZUN and his continued Touhou ProjectToby Fox is one of the few independent game developers lucky enough to be able to make games his own way.

Their games are small, the expectations are also small. While some other developers, like WayForward and Yacht Club Games, are finding ways to deliver their titles faster, Fox can afford to take its time and even seemingly take sabbaticals from other projects.

We don’t think this will change, because his work is so beloved that fans will make excuses for him, just like the other developer we mentioned. We are happy with his success, and we believe in it Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 will live up to the high expectations the wait has created when they finally release.
