Murder victim identified as 27-year-old man

ST. THOMAS – VI Police have confirmed a fatal shooting incident that occurred late Wednesday morning on the St. Thomas hospital grounds.

According to the department, at approximately 11:30 a.m. the 911 emergency call center received multiple alerts through ShotSpotter, the VIPD’s gunfire detection system, which recorded five alerts from the area.

After these warnings, several witnesses called 911 to report that a victim had gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on scene and confirmed the individual was deceased upon arrival.

The victim has been identified as as 27-year-old Hasani Parris by relatives.

The incident is currently under investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this recent homicide, which brings the area’s 2024 total to 35, to submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers USVI at this link.
