16-year-old boy seriously injured in shooting at a supermarket in south-west Birmingham

An investigation is underway after a teenager was seriously injured in a shooting in Birmingham on Wednesday evening.

West Precinct officers were notified around 10 p.m. that a 16-year-old boy had shown up at Princeton Baptist Medical Center with a gunshot wound.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald said the preliminary investigation shows the teen was shot inside the Citgo at 2714 Pearson Avenue. Details surrounding the shooting have not yet been released.

A store customer then took the teen to the hospital. The victim has life-threatening injuries.

Fitzgerald said no arrests have been made.
