Billy Corgan’s son Augustus, 8, of Smashing Pumpkins, almost hit by car

Billy Corgans woman Chloe Mendel Corgan shares an update after a car crashed into the couple’s tea shop.

On Wednesday, October 30, Mendel Corgan, 32, posted a statement her Instagram in response to a car crashing into their tea shop, Madame Zuzu. The Smashing Pumpkins frontman, 57, shares his daughter Philomena Clementine5½, and August8½, with wife Mendel Corgan, who is currently expecting the couple’s third baby.

“This afternoon at Madame Zuzu’s, a car (under circumstances still under investigation) drove over the curb and into Madame Zuzu, crashing through the window and seriously injuring one person: my mother Jenny; who had been having lunch all day with my son Augustus,” wrote Mendel Corgan.

“Luckily he was able to jump out of the way and was not injured,” the expectant mother of two wrote, adding that the store would be closed until further notice.

In addition to running Madame Zuzu’s with Corgan, Mendel Corgan is the CEO and co-creative director of House of Gilles, a haute couture house launched this year with her famous father, Gilles Mendel.

On Thursday, October 31, Mendel Corgan shared another update about her Instagramin which she said her mother was home and recovering and that Madame Zuzu’s would be open.

In August, Corgan and his wife shared exclusively with PEOPLE they are expecting their third child together.

“We are overjoyed to announce that our family is growing!” the expectant mother of three told PEOPLE. “It’s an exciting time for us, albeit unexpected!”

“On Sunday we shared the news with our children, Augustus Juppiter and Philomena Clementine. While Augustus was overjoyed, Clementine, the younger of the two, asked if the baby had been made yet and cried a few tears of concern, which was really cute” , the proud father told PEOPLE.

“Now both children are beaming, and it makes it so much fun to share the joy of bringing more love into our family. We are truly blessed.”

Corgan and Mendel Corgan have been together since 2012 got engaged in September 2022 on Mendel’s 30th birthday.

The couple exchanged vows in September 2023. The two shared the news along with a video of the day in a joint Instagram post and thanked the many people who helped make their special day perfect.

“We can’t thank everyone enough for their kind words. Our journey to marriage has certainly been unique, but we wouldn’t have it any other way as we were married with our 2 children Augustus Juppiter and Philomena Clementine by our side ,” they wrote.
