Gunmen kill banker and two others in Abia

The Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, on Thursday confirmed the death of Mr Victor Udensi, an employee of Zenith Bank from Umuahia branch, along with two others in Umuahia on Monday.

The CP, who made this known while parading some suspects at the police headquarters in Umuahia, assured the public that the perpetrators would soon be brought to justice.

He explained that Udensi had stopped at the Isi Court Axis of Olokoro in Umuahia South at about 8pm after his working day when he was accosted by three armed men operating in a Keke. They tried to force him into the trunk of his car.

However, Udensi resisted and as he tried to escape, the attackers shot him in the back, leaving him in a pool of blood.

The attackers then tried unsuccessfully to start his car and instead approached another unsuspecting driver in a Camry.

“When they tried to take his car key by force, the driver resisted.
However, the armed men shot him, killing him instantly,” Isa said.

While fleeing to Ubakala, the gunmen encountered a Keke they believed was impeding their escape and fatally shot the driver.

An eyewitness reported that passersby rushed Udensi to hospital, but he was pronounced dead shortly after beginning treatment.

The CP further stated that police had launched a manhunt for the attackers.
